CONTAINERS (UK) LTD

Envases is a fourth-generation family business, with more than 60 years of experience, which is characterized by its high levels of investment in innovation and patented technology.

It produces a wide range of aluminum cans, bottles and jars, mainly for the personal care, home care and pharmaceutical sectors. Envases’ two modern production facilities (in Spain and the United Kingdom) are fully equipped to meet the technical requirements of the different productions.

Envases has always focused on improving quality and efficiency. Approximately 80% of production goes to the cosmetics sector, but the use of aluminum aerosol cans is also increasing in other markets: personal care, beauty products, pharmaceuticals, household products, food products and automotive. The excellent material quality and protective properties make aluminum canisters suitable for all types of propellants and formulations. In fact, aluminum aerosol cans guarantee a high level of product compatibility and the one-piece production process ensures excellent protective properties. At the same time, however, the variability of the container shape complicates the tertiary packaging process, especially in the palletization of the layers and in the wrapping to stabilize the palletized load.

Envases had already chosen Robopac as a technology partner for several years, especially for pallet wrapping, with an automatic wrapping line in Spain and some semi-automatic wrapping in both plants in Spain and the United Kingdom. Wrappers with different production capacities and technical characteristics, which have operated for a long time and continue to operate successfully at the company’s production facilities.

When looking for new fully automated end-of-line solutions for the UK plant, also following some changes in the way products are wrapped, Envases studied different technologies for load stabilization. Of all of them, Envases engineers focused on 2 technologies in particular: stretch film packaging or stretch hood packaging.

After a series of tests with real loads carried out both in the hooding production plant and in the Robopac TechLab, the Packaging engineers were very satisfied with the results obtained by the Robopac stretch hood solution and rejected the stretch hood solution, thus confirming their renewed confidence in the historical partner. Decisive was the Robopac winder’s ability to provide greater load stability using less film than the competitive solution, all without damaging the product.

Therefore, Envases designed, together with Robopac’s team of experts, a complete end-of-line wrapping plant that included conveyors, an automatic pallet labeling machine, 2 top flap applicators with double loader and automatic flap selection according to pallet size, pallet centering devices and 2 Helix 1 EVO arm wrappers equipped with Cube TechnologyTM, Top inside for top film application, top presser with adjustable pneumatic folding device, contrasting spring clamp for glue-free film finishing, pallet lifter and wrapper tensioner. The system has been recently installed and has allowed Envases to significantly reduce logistics and internal product handling costs.

Thanks to the latest generation Robopac solutions, Packaging products are palletized, stored and transported in complete safety, guaranteeing safe handling throughout the supply process.
